Phakin Dokmai, Investigator of Don Mueang Police Station, along with over 30 officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Special Investigation Division, the 2nd Police Region, and the Don Mueang Police Station’s investigation team.

Under the search warrant from the Don Mueang District Court, a search was conducted to locate individuals according to arrest warrants and illegal items within a building covering an area of 18 plots in Soi Song Prapha 1, Don Mueang Sub-district and District, Bangkok. During the search, many motorcycles and cars were found parked in the back parking lot. At the same time, some gamblers attempted to escape through the officers’ encirclement and fled out the front. Eventually, 29 gamblers were apprehended, consisting of 10 men and 19 women.

Upon inspection, it was found that there were a total of 3 modified rooms, with the exterior walls covered with egg cartons and a vinyl sign stating ‘Rental Room – No Gambling Allowed.’ A group of gamblers fled in panic from all 3 rooms, prompting the officers to announce for everyone to remain calm and to sit on the floor. Each room was equipped with surveillance cameras for the gamblers to watch the games. The first room was set up for playing two-card poker, with the rules posted on the wall. The second room was for playing card games, and the third room was for playing hi-lo. The authorities seized the following items: a total of 3 tables used for gambling, 3 walkie-talkies, over 10 surveillance cameras, 10 television monitors for gambling observation, playing cards, dice, a stick for pushing chips, and a large amount of gaming equipment.

Initially, charges were filed for ‘colluding to illegally gamble (two-card poker) (fan-tan) (hi-lo) without permission.’ The suspects, along with the seized items, were then brought to the Don Mueang Police Station for further legal proceedings.

According to reporters, during this search, it was found that a large door had been built to block the entrance to the building. The officers had previously used this entrance for their searches, and a new access point had been created, with the wall reinforced to be higher to prevent officers from entering for searches and arrests. However, during this search, no individuals listed in the arrest warrants were found. This search of the gambling den in the years 2023-2024 marks the third time, with the most recent arrest occurring on December 8, 2024, when 141 gamblers were apprehended. This time, it was discovered to be the same room that had been raided previously, but with new equipment.
