Ban Phaew police caught a Myanmar laborer in the act, intoxicated and lewd, who strangled a woman and left her body in the grass by the Ban Phaew-Phra Pradaeng road in Samut Sakhon. The victim was found naked from the waist down, suggesting an attempted rape, but she struggled.
At 08:05 AM on February 19, Lt. Col. Weera Kanjanaprom, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) of Ban Phaew Police Station in Samut Sakhon, received a report of a woman’s body found by the roadside on the Ban Phaew-Phra Pradaeng road, Village 9, Ban Phaew Subdistrict, Ban Phaew District, Samut Sakhon. He quickly went to investigate along with the investigative team, medical personnel, forensic officers, and disaster relief volunteers.
The incident occurred in a patch of grass about 3 meters from the road, where the body of Ms. Samang, or Nui Boonruen, aged 44, from Ban Phaew District, Samut Sakhon, was found lying on her back. Her shirt was pulled up, revealing her bra, and her underwear was removed, exposing her genitals. It is believed that she had recently died. Nearby, a motorcycle belonging to the suspect was found parked, which was collected and recorded as evidence.
Investigations revealed that the deceased worked not far from the location where her body was found, and before the incident, she had been riding on the back of a motorcycle with a foreign man, the suspect. Pol. Lt. Gen. Naiwat Phaeremchit, Commander of Provincial Police Region 7, ordered Pol. Maj. Gen. Pongpan Wongmaneethet, Commander of Nakhon Pathom Provincial Police, and Pol. Col. Pornchai Ariyanont, Superintendent of Ban Phaew Police Station, to quickly mobilize forces to surround the nearby area and pursue the suspect.

Eventually, MR. AUNG ZIN MYO, a Myanmar national, was found in an intoxicated state with scratch marks on his face, hiding in the grass about 30 meters from the crime scene. He was taken to the location of the body, where he initially confessed to strangling the victim. The authorities are currently investigating the true motive behind the crime.
