Crushing the dreams of street racers by using a road roller to destroy 776 modified exhaust pipes, following the police in Nakhon Si Thammarat showcasing their efforts in cracking down on racing gangs and a large number of illegal firearms. They warned that if minors are found committing offenses, their guardians will face strict legal action.
At 1:30 PM on February 26, 2025, in front of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police Headquarters, Pol. Maj. Gen. Jarut Krutthayaporn, the Provincial Police Commander, held a press conference to announce the results of a month-long crime crackdown in accordance with the policy of the Royal Thai Police and the crime prevention plan of the Southern Region Police, under the plan ‘Protecting the People, Modern Crime Fighting, Caring for Citizens,’ which is part of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police’s efforts.
A total of 557 drug suspects were arrested, with seized evidence including 667,604 methamphetamine pills, 2,413.8 grams of crystal meth, and 0.4 grams of heroin. Additionally, assets related to drug trafficking valued at 4,550,725 baht were confiscated, including cash, cars, motorcycles, mobile phones, and firearms. Under the Firearms Act, there were 86 arrests related to firearms, with 86 suspects. This included 1 explosive device, 54 registered firearms, 15 unregistered firearms, 296 rounds of ammunition, and 1 M16 rifle.
In the past month, the police in Nakhon Si Thammarat, across all 32 police stations, have confiscated a total of 776 loud motorcycle exhaust pipes. Therefore, they gathered the illegal exhaust pipes and used a road roller to crush and destroy them today to prevent them from being reused. Pol. Maj. Gen. Jarut has instructed the police to strictly enforce regulations against modified racing vehicles that create loud noises and disturb the public.
When modified racing vehicles are seized, the guardians of the youths involved will be summoned for discussions to create a record and provide warnings.
