On March 1, 2025, Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra traveled to preside over the ceremony to raise the ceremonial umbrella for the principal Buddha statue and to offer a communal robe as a form of Buddhist merit-making and to contribute to the construction of the ubosot at Wat Sutthun. He was welcomed by Pol. Col. Thavee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, Mr. Korkaeo Pikulthong, Mr. Anusorn Aiemsaard, list MP, Mr. Krumanit Sangphum, Surin MP, Mr. Soemsak Pongpanit, former Minister of Culture, Mr. Saroj Hongchuwet, director of the Pheu Thai Party, Mr. Veerakarn Musigphong, former chairman of the Red Shirt movement, and Ms. Pimpatra Vichayakul, former Minister of Industry and MP for Nakhon Si Thammarat District 10 from the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, who came to welcome and participate in the merit-making ceremony.

Mr. Thaksin greeted the people in Southern dialect before mentioning that Mr. Natthawut invited him to make merit, saying that he usually focuses on work but feels good when he can make merit. He expressed hope that all Thai people would endure a little longer, as they would soon overcome the prolonged difficult situation due to the economy being battered for many years. He asked for a little time, assuring that it could be repaired. He noted that the Prime Minister is working hard and recently looked into why projects were not progressing, discovering that there is still a significant amount of money stuck in the budget system that can be pushed out without needing to borrow. This gives the economy a chance to grow. Therefore, from now on, the Prime Minister will push for money to be distributed to the public as much as possible to quickly revive the economy. He encouraged everyone to stay positive, stating that today is an auspicious day for them to come together to make merit and start anew for Thailand.
