The Ministry of Public Health is pushing forward towards a digital health system.

At the Centara Life Hotel, Government Complex and Convention Center Chaeng Watthana, Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, stated during the opening of the workshop on ‘Development of the Health Data Hub’ that the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) aims to drive towards a digital health system to enhance the convenience and speed of health services, reduce waiting times, lower travel costs to hospitals, and alleviate the workload of medical personnel. One of the key factors for successful implementation is the development of a health data hub, which will serve as an important tool for seamlessly linking health data from community health promotion hospitals to central hospitals. This will expand the use of an effective national health database to support medical personnel’s decision-making, policy formulation, and promote more equitable and comprehensive services, while ensuring data security.

In the past, the MOPH has utilized various technologies to develop digital health services in support of the 30 Baht universal healthcare policy, including telemedicine systems, the use of medical artificial intelligence, various health applications, the development of health databases, and health data mapping to care for patients with nine disease groups and monks, as well as a registry for patients with chronic non-communicable diseases, which will help ensure accurate diagnosis and status verification of patients. All of this relies on effective and secure health data linkage to enhance the country’s health services.

Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, Permanent Secretary of the MOPH, stated that the MOPH is integrating and linking data from various databases to allow personnel and officials to access complete information, reducing redundancy. Currently, over 50% of service unit staff and community health volunteers have already pinpointed their locations. All levels of agencies must work together to develop the health data hub in a unified direction.
